The Belcourt Theatre announces reopening on Friday, Nov. 13 with new safety measures and operations.

Nashville, TENN. — The Belcourt Theatre announces its reopening on Friday, Nov. 13 with limits on capacity and building adaptations for the health and safety of both staff and audiences. Amazon Nashville has provided support for the reopening.

As the Belcourt reopens, films will be screened in the theatre’s first floor 1925 Hall and 1966 Hall. As part of the new safety measures, theatres will be operating at reduced capacities of 17% and 22%.

As part of the reopening, the Belcourt will be making upgrades to the theatre’s HVAC system and purchasing electrostatic misting equipment. For the HVAC system, UV air scrubbers have been added, as well as improved central air and other filtrations, including increased outdoor air ventilation. The electrostatic mister will be used throughout the building and specifically on seats for disinfection after every screening.

“We couldn’t be more grateful for this extraordinary support from Amazon,” said Stephanie Silverman, the Belcourt’s executive director. “This generous commitment will help us to reopen safely for local audiences. As part of our new safety measures, we will be limiting seats to provide safe distancing for audiences and ensuring that the Belcourt’s building is well-equipped with adaptations that provide enhanced air filtering and flow, and comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting.”

The screening schedule will include parameters that permit thorough disinfecting of seats (and surrounding areas) in both halls. In addition, the Belcourt’s lobby area and restrooms will be regularly and consistently cleaned. The Belcourt is adhering to (and in some cases, exceeding) the guidelines and standards set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — and by the voluntary CinemaSafe guidelines developed by the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO).

The Belcourt will open with two new releases, with future selections to be announced soon. Films opening Friday, Nov. 13 will be AMMONITE directed by Frances Lee and starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, and the animated WOLFWALKERS directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart. Tickets for both are now on sale at belcourt.org.
