Tigers Fall to Skyhawks, 28-17

Martin, TENN- The Tennessee State Tigers fell 28-17 to the UT-Martin Skyhawks Saturday afternoon in Hardy Graham Stadium. The Tigers took the field against the Skyhawks ready to impose there will as they rushed for 218 total yards on the ground. Senior running back Takendrick Roberson led the way for the Tigers carrying the ball 21 times for 93 yards. Other, backs that got in the mix were redshirt sophomore Shawn McColley, who had eight carries for 59 yards and Seth Rowland carried it eight times for 40 yards. Senior fullback Andrew Knox was the lone scorer of the day who had three carries for 2 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior Quarterback Cameron Rosendahl led the Tiger air-attack as he’s done all season completing 10-of-23 passes for 123 yards. Rosendahl, has now passed Shannon Harris(2001) and tied with Michael German(2014) on single season completion list. In 2001, Shannon Harris completed 211 passes and German completed 216 in 2014. Rosendahl, is now 6th all time on the TSU completion list.

Sophomore Kicker Antonio Zita kicked a field goal and connected on two extra points adding five points to the scoreboard, bringing his season total to 83 points.

Redshirt-freshman, Josh Green continues his strong play for the Tigers leading the Big Blue with eleven tackles, five solo one pass break-up and a tackle for loss. Junior defensive end Emmanuel Olenga followed Green’s leading totaling seven tackles, two for a loss and one and half sacks. Nick Harper Jr anchored the defensive performance with a pass break up and an Interception the second of his career.

The battle for the Sgt. York Trophy is now in a dead lock tie between Austin Peay and UT Martin. Both teams are now 2-1 against teams in the Ohio Valley conference in the state of Tennessee. The Tigers are 1-1, and have chance to finish 2-1 next week on Saturday Nov. 23. at 1:30 p.m.
