“I am expecting an even better turnout than last year.”
Dorie Harrison recalls the energy of the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season. The 2025 season, AU’s first in Nashville, set attendance records and had the city buzzing. Harrison and the rest of the AU Pro Basketball family are hoping to build on that momentum and then some in the 2026 season, which tips off February 4 at Municipal Auditorium.
“We have an incredible roster,” Harrison said. “You’re going to see a lot of WNBA and non-WNBA talent come through this city, and this is definitely something you want to catch. You don’t want to miss it.”
AU Pro Basketball not only gave Harrison another place to play, but also the opportunity to showcase her skills in the city where she grew up. The former Hillsboro High School standout held her own against elite competition, including WNBA players and her sister, Izzy Harrison.
“I’m someone who does the dirty work on the court,” Harrison said. “I’m excited to continue that this year.”
Heading into the season, Harrison focused on improving her midrange game and using her speed and quickness as a power forward and center to put defenses in tough situations. Beyond her on-court growth, she is also expanding her role within the league by joining AU’s leadership committee this season.
“I’ve always been extremely invested in AU,” she said. “It’s an amazing professional league, and they’ve invested in me as well. There are so many aspects of this league that deserve more light.”
Harrison is right. The league continues to stand out not only for its innovative format, but also for the causes players compete for throughout the season. AU Pro Basketball fosters a strong sense of community, something that is evident both on and off the court.
Harrison, along with her sister Izzy and A’ja Clark, represents the Nashville area in a city that has long embraced women’s basketball, hosting events such as the SEC Women’s Tournament and the NCAA Women’s Final Four. With the momentum generated last season, Harrison hopes the league continues its upward trajectory.
“People are in the loop now about what AU is all about,” Harrison said. “We bring something special to women’s professional basketball, especially as the first domestic option for women to stay in the United States during the offseason. We have an incredible roster.”
